Uptown Theatre will be restored: $75 million plan unveiled for grand palace on North Side

After 35 years of stuttering starts, empty promises and oft-reckless neglect, the 4,381-seat Uptown Theatre is finally going to be restored to its 1925 glory. A $75 million plan aims to redevelop what was once among the most opulent and gorgeous movie palaces ever built in America.
