Up 20-0 at halftime, the Bears came up short in the final preseason game after the Bills rallied for a 28-27 victory Thursday night at Soldier Field. Bills quarterback AJ McCarron won it with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Keith Towbridge with 17 seconds to play.
Quarterback Mitch Trubisky wasn't on the field. Neither was any of the players the Bears expect to be major offensive weapons, including Jordan Howard, Tarik Cohen, Allen Robinson, Anthony Miller, Taylor Gabriel and Trey Burton. Wide receivers Javon Wims and Kevin White, who excelled in the penultimate preseason game Saturday, weren't announced as inactive before the game, but White didn't play and Wims was seen only briefly.
Third-string quarterback Tyler Bray, whose roster spot remains in question, played the entire game.
