Inside Slant

Finally.

Friday, Mar 30

The wait is over (almost). Loyola coach Porter Moser won over the national media at his Final Four press conference yesterday. Today, it was Sister Jean's turn to hold court. Yes, the 98-year-old nun had a Q&A session with the masses — would you expect anything less? Reigning NBA MVP Russell Westbrook hopped aboard the Ramblers' bandwagon: "Go ahead and win it." Even Bruce Weber is weighing in on the team that knocked his Kansas State squad out of the tournament: "Keep their humbleness, keep their focus." There's been stories about sneakers. And how the mid-major school will cash on in, thanks to this March Madness. But tomorrow at 5:09 p.m. on TBS … Let's get ready to ramble.

Defense!

Yes, it's time to talk about Kyle Schwarber's defensive struggles. Joe Maddon blamed yesterday's outfield adventures on the "snake-like" wiggle of the grass. Um, sure. Tonight: Albert Almora Jr. leads off (6:10 p.m., WGN).

Dingers!

A brief synopsis of yesterday's 14-7 White Sox winner: HR, HR, HR, HR, HR, HR (3 of those belonged to Matt Davidson). GM Rick Hahn tried to downplay opening-day optimism, but how does the Michigan man feel about Loyola?

Beer league to big league

What will emergency backup goalie Scott Foster tell his beer league buddies about his 7 saves in the 6-2 Hawks win? "I'll tell them I made about 30 saves in a 1-0 win." Genius! Tonight: Back to normal (8 p.m., NBCSCH).

Pick is in

With the No. 8 pick, the Chicago Bears select … Brad Biggs takes his 1st stab at his 2018 NFL mock draft. Over on our podcast, the guys give you 6 reasons for optimism (and no, the orange jerseys aren't one of them).

Go to your room

Robin Lopez wasn't too pleased about 2 quick technicals in last night's loss. So he said some words to the officials. The result? A $25K fine. Tonight: A huge game in the NBA draft lottery standings vs. Magic (6 p.m., NBCSCH).
