Wednesday, May 30 Joe Maddon is #TeamAnthony 100%. Even when MLB said Anthony Rizzo's slide should have been ruled interference, Maddon sees things another way: "Don't penalize Anthony for doing the right baseball thing he has been taught to do from the time he was a kid, and all of a sudden something thrown into the mix the day after is interpreted as being wrong but not the day of. I do believe I'm right." This will endear the manager to the Cubs clubhouse surely, but Steve Rosenbloom has other thoughts. Namely, Maddon is on a bad road to do some (more) bad managing. Oh Anthony, look what you've done! Last night: An 8-6 comeback win fueled by a Rizzo (oh dear) home run. Tonight: Cubs go for the sweep (6:05 p.m., NBCSCH). |
| The MRI results are in: Yu Darvish has inflammation in his right triceps — but no structural damage. Yay. Updates on other Cubs pitchers: Kyle Hendricks is still eyeing 200 and Jon Lester can hit all of a sudden. |
|
| James Shields has been good — 0.9 WAR — in May. So he could be on the trade block come July. What a world! Last night: Lucas Giolito was OK-ish in a 7-3 Sox loss. Today: Reynaldo Lopez was shelled in a 9-1 Sox loss. |

| NBA, you never disappoint us. The latest wacky storyline: Did 76ers president Bryan Colangelo create burner Twitter accounts to rip his players and start some beefs? No really, this is a real thing that's being investigated. |

| If the Golden Knights win the Cup, Vegas could lose anywhere from $5-$7 million. Because really, what were the odds an expansion team would win it all in Year 1? Oops. Tonight: Game 2 on slushy ice (7 p.m., NBC). |
