Tuesday, Mar 6 The Bears placed the seldom-used transition tag on Kyle Fuller before today's 3 p.m. deadline. Here's what it means: The cornerback will make a guaranteed $12.971 million for the 2018 season and the Bears would still have time — until July 16 — to work out a multiyear contract. Keeping Fuller, their most important pending free agent, would take a lot off GM Ryan Pace's plate. Because there's also a big need for an edge rusher, and not a lot of depth in the draft pool. And in "awwww" news: Matt Forte will sign a 1-day contract to retire as a member of the Bears. Awwww. |
Happy Yu-sday! Yu Darvish, the very fancy pitcher man, finally made his Cubs' spring debut. Ben Zobrist batted in the leadoff spot today— but David Haugh says in the regular season, it should be Ian Happ.

Charlie Tilson was among the 8 cuts today; he'll report to Triple-A Charlotte (likely joined soon by top prospects). Rob Scahill is still in a White Sox uniform, which has to be pretty cool for a lifelong White Sox fan — no error there.

Simeon grad Donte Ingram might just be Loyola's best pitchman for Chicago's high school players: "I think more city kids are going to start coming in." Now, as for Selection Sunday, there's a new format on CBS.

No, Corey Crawford won't play tonight for the Hawks (7:30 p.m., WGN). And probably not this week either. And with 16 games to go, probably not those as well. Erik Gustafsson will play — at least for the next 2 years.
