That's Cub

Wednesday, Mar 7

Yu's debut started out rocky but ended up just fine — like his free-agency search. After walking 2 of the 1st 3 batters and throwing 2 wild pitches, Darvish settled down, allowing 1 run on no hits over 2 innings with 4 strikeouts. But it's his sense of humor that makes him perfect for the Cubs, says catcher Chris Gimenez: "You kind of see that fun, playful side of him come out. We all play our best when we're doing that." Also, when he's not tipping pitches … Yesterday: The still unsigned Jake Arrieta turned 32. Tonight: Cubs vs. Indians under the lights in Arizona.

He speaks!

Mitch Trubisky talked Bears on Chicago radio from "Cali" yesterday. About coach Matt Nagy: "Creative." About Kevin White: "Put a shirt on buddy." And for everything else, Brad Biggs' mailbag has you covered.

Tanks for nothing

The NBA isn't happy with the Bulls (join the club). So tonight, the formerly inactive Justin Holiday will start (7 p.m., NBCSCH). Robin Lopez will sit again vs. the Grizzles, who have lost 14 straight games. This should be ugly.

Put me in, Coach

Look at me, says Adam Engel, Ryan Cordell and, yes, even uber-prospect Luis Robert — they can play center field. Rick Renteria, you've got a big decision to make. Yesterday: A 6-4 White Sox win. Today: In progress.

But we love the drama

Two big Selection Show changes: 1. It's on TBS and B. All 68 teams will be revealed before the bracket. Wha? Leave it alone, writes Shannon Ryan — it was perfect. If you're on the Loyola bandwagon, there's a watch party Sunday.

Award season

None of the Hawks will win NHL MVP, but Coach Q was voted most popular coach and Hawks fans the best fans in an NHLPA poll. Put up a banner! Last night: Jonathan Toews scored 9 seconds into OT. Speedy!
