Supermarket sweep

Thursday, Dec 21

Attention last-minute shoppers: There are still plenty of good baseball players available. Like ex-Cub Andrew Cashner and ex-White Sox Addison Reed (because it really seems like the Cubs are collecting ALL the pitchers these days). Also in the mix: Yu Darvish, who somewhat stealthy met with the Cubs' Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer earlier this week in Dallas. David Haugh writes that if it comes down to a decision between Darvish or Jake Arrieta, all the Cubs should want for Christmas is Yu (shoutout to Mariah Carey). Arrieta will always have a special place in Cubs lore, but Darvish would give them a better shot at another World Series. And that's what it's all about. Thanks for those onesie memories

7th Heaven

You guys, the Bulls won't stop winning. What is happening? "It's a blast," Robin Lopez said of the 7 straight wins. A tough test awaits tonight them on the road tonight vs. the Cavs (6 p.m., WGN). That's no secret, but this is.

Sharp turn

Patrick Sharp is likely to be a healthy scratch for the Hawks tonight vs. the Stars (7:30 p.m., NBCSCH). Also out: Jan Rutta and Cody Franson. But very much in: Corey Crawford, who is putting up Vezina-like stats this season.

Naughty or nice?

The Bears are favored by 6.5 points over the winless Browns. "We won't be that team," Akiem Hicks said of losing to the sad, sad 0-14 team. Promise? Because that would totally ruin Christmas. And Kyle Long doesn't need that.

Intriguing option

Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is back. But should you, fantasy football owner whose team is in the playoffs, start him in Week 16? His season has been disappointing, but not as disappointing as these 8 NFL players.

The next Northwestern?

Loyola's last tourney bid came in 1985; can the 10-2 Ramblers end the streak this season? DePaul has its own first of sorts — coach Dave Leitao will don a microphone during an upcoming game on FS1. No swearing.
