Cook County Democrats should fire Joe Berrios and nominate Frederick "Fritz" Kaegi for assessor in the March 20 primary election. No longer should Cook County taxpayers subsidize Berrios' dodgy ethics, devotion to nepotism and grossly unfair property tax assessments. 

For the Republicans, Bruce Rauner

The Chicago Tribune Editorial Board endorses Bruce Rauner in the Republican primary contest for Illinois governor. 

Every other governor under House Speaker Michael Madigan caved. They were co-conspirators. Not Rauner. He is the first governor to unflinchingly stand up to Madigan.
