Fighting Words

Stay outraged. Don't accept this mass shooting and move on.

Friday, Feb 16

Focusing on gun felons in the name of Cmdr. Bauer

Endorsements in the Illinois primary election

Today the Tribune Editorial Board begins endorsements for the 2018 Illinois primary election.

In the Republican primary for Illinois governor, we endorse incumbent Bruce Rauner over state Rep. Jeanne Ives. Read why.

In the Democratic primary for Cook County Assessor, we endorse Fritz Kaegi over incumbent Joe Berrios. Our reasoning will be no surprise to those who've been reading our editorials and the Tribune watchdog reports. No longer should Cook County taxpayers subsidize Berrios' dodgy ethics, devotion to nepotism and grossly unfair property tax assessments

We'll be posting more endorsements online at chicagotribune.com/endorsements between now and the March 20 election. Read candidates' answers to our questionnaires at chicagotribune.com/candidates.
