Inside Slant

Back at it

Monday, Dec 18

Saturday's Bears loss to the Lions had it all, an entire season condensed into 3 hours. What a treat! For no one. It's all so repetitive. The losing. The warranted pile-on. The Bears' inability to escape their perpetual misfortune. What a cycle. And it's because the Bears hate you, says Steve Rosenbloom. What better way to get back at them than to be a no-show for Sunday's home date vs. the 0-14 Browns? It's Christmas Eve — stay at home with your family (it'll be OK, we promise). Otherwise, you'll be cold outside and questioning the Bears' inability to run the ball properly. Or you'll be cold outside and questioning John Fox's befuddling decisions. Or you'll just be cold outside. Here's some news to warm your heart: Zach Miller took his first steps without crutches. Finally, some happy feelings!

Six-peat?

Remember when the Bulls were bad? They are going for their 6th straight win vs. the 76ers (7 p.m., NBCSCH). Trust the process indeed. And trust us, David Nwaba's sister is the family's best athlete (but he's pretty talented too).

Five alive

Remember when the Hawks were bad? They won their 5th straight game last night, as Patrick Kane scored 2 goals in a 4-1 win over the Wild. Those 2 goals moved him into 5th place on the franchise's all-time scoring list.

Center of attention

Should Albert Almora be the Cubs' everyday center fielder? We ask this random question only because the baseball offseason has been like "Seinfield," aka all about nothing. Except for Derek Jeter and his odd Marlins' moves.

B1G confusion

Big Ten basketball … it's a mess! Sure, there's Michigan State and Purdue. And then? Northwestern, fresh off a win over DePaul, is in the mix. Illinois, fresh off a loss at the UC in front of a few people, really isn't.

Week 15 roundup

It was a busy NFL weekend. Included: The dreaded catch rule, the Panthers are for sale (will Diddy buy the team?), Aaron Rodgers returned, Jimmy Garoppolo is better than expected and Robbie is still good as Gould.
