Monday, Feb 11 Desperation seems to suit the Blackhawks. Although they had been languishing near the bottom of the Western Conference most of the season, they took down the Red Wings (remember them?) 5-2 on Sunday to win their seventh straight — their longest such streak since late in the 2016-17 season. It's not just about the Hawks' stars, either, though the Patrick Kanes and Jonathan Toewses are doing plenty. On Sunday, however, the Dominik Kahun-Alex DeBrincat-Dylan Strome line had three goals and six assists. That depth is one of the things the Blackhawks will need to ultimately earn a playoff spot, Jimmy Greenfield writes. And you can track the team's progress toward a postseason berth here, all the way until the regular season wraps up in early April. | | |
