You'll just have to wait, White Sox fans

Thursday, Feb 14

Whether Manny Machado signs with the White Sox is still anyone's guess. For fans looking for more of a sure thing in the superstar department, it might be better to focus on Eloy Jimenez. That the team won't call up the outfielder until mid-April is a no-brainer, Paul Sullivan writes. But whenever Jimenez does come to Chicago, it should be worth the wait. As for the aforementioned Machado, he'll have a built-in entourage — aka "Hurricane Corner" — waiting for him. Maybe that will tip the scales between now and, say, Opening Day. Michael Kopech's recovery is keeping him away for now, though he's progressing nicely and has a new nickname. Finally, the Sox will have company in Arizona soon in the form of a fan who pitched his way there.

Take the ball

Aging or not — well, they definitely are — the Cubs need more innings from their starters this season, Joe Maddon says. They also might need David Bote to play some shortstop and Xavier Cedeno to dominate lefties.

Networking opportunity

The Cubs finally unveiled their (way too) long-anticipated, much-discussed plan to start their own TV network, which may or may not feature a show starring Ryan Dempster. Here's what that means for you.

Not even trying to hide it

If you're a Cubs fan looking to see them play at Miller Park, you'll have to hope the tickets aren't bought out by Wisconsin residents by Friday night. Of course, the Brewers won't shed a tear if that happens.

Bears mailbag

It doesn't matter that the season is over, the Bears questions keep rolling in for Brad Biggs to answer. The top question? Without Kareem Hunt, is Jordan Howard more likely to stay in 2019?

A love story

When Cupid strikes, he strikes hard. And for these Blackhawks players, Cupid's arrow, er, hockey stick left a lasting impression. Oh, to be young again.

Noah place like home

As the Bulls said goodbye to an 11-game home losing streak Wednesday, fans said hello again to Joakim Noah, who's now a Grizzly. "The years here in Chicago were just so special," he said. Awww, now it feels like Valentine's Day.

Two cold

Both Loyola and Northwestern struggled shooting the ball on Wednesday. The results: The Ramblers' grip on the Missouri Valley Conference slipped a bit and the Wildcats lost their fifth straight.
