It's always been GarPax. But now, it's more PaxGar. John Paxson has been front and center all season — traveling with the Bulls, chatting with the media and engaging with the team. What's up with that, Jerry Reinsdorf? "I think John plays well publicly, more than me or Gar (Forman). People tend to like John. They trust him. He's the guy next door. People look at Gar and me and we're not warm and cuddly like John." Also playing well publicly: Kris Dunn. Does his emergence mean the Bulls "won" the offseason trade with the Timberwolves? Tonight: Bulls, who have won 6 straight, host the Magic, who have lost 5 straight (7 p.m., NBCSCH).

Offseason starts early

Kyle Long "crushed" his surgery yesterday. And today, Pernell McPhee became the 15th Bears player to be placed on injured reserve. Gah. No wonder Mike Mulligan writes that the team needs a complete culture change.

Aloha

For a 3rd straight year, 0 Bears were voted to the Pro Bowl. Steve Rosenbloom says congrats on the consistency, John Fox and Ryan Pace! Speaking of Pace, where has he been hiding? Brad Biggs answers that and more in his Q&A.

2nd things 1st

The Hawks have played just fine in the 1st and 3rd periods. But the middle? Not great, Bob. "It's not just a stat, it's a fact." Elsewhere: The Islanders are moving and there's an app to find goalies in Canada (of course).

Committed

Happy early signing day, college football! The Illini tapped into Florida early and often for recruits, Notre Dame landed 4 top-100 players and Northwestern kept its 4th-year senior quarterback (yes, that's allowed).

Keep it 1 of 100

Similarities galore between Wilt Chamberlain and Northwestern walk-on Charlie Hall. Or one. And 99 points. Last night: The Wildcats easily won, Notre Dame held off Dartmouth and a pair of coaches won No. 1,000.
