Tronc sells LA Times to billionaire investor in $500 million deal

Wednesday, February 7, 2018, 9:08 AM CT

Tronc, the Chicago-based media company that owns the Chicago Tribune and other newspapers, has agreed to sell the Los Angeles Times, San Diego Union-Tribune and other California-based assets to Los Angeles biotech billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong for $500 million in cash.
