Anthony Gay entered Illinois prison as a young man, expecting to serve as little as three and a half years. Instead he served 22, mostly in solitary confinement. Now, he is suing the state, saying he was denied proper medical care for his mental illness and his incarceration amounted to torture.

Cook County, parking operators in dispute over possibly millions in back taxes that could leave consumers pinched

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle's administration is auditing more than 20 parking lot operators, in part to determine whether companies owe potentially millions in unpaid back taxes related to residential parking exemptions, records and interviews show. Also: $8.3 million in Cook County property tax overpayments will be refunded automatically.

Chicago police release photos of teen suspects in Near North Red Line attacks

Chicago police released photos of six teenage suspects in recent, apparently unprovoked attacks at a downtown CTA Red Line stop. The male teens, who police believe are 15 to 19 years old, are accused of surrounding and attacking multiple people "without provocation."
