A landmark public housing discrimination lawsuit that ranks among the longest-running federal cases in Chicago history could be coming to a close under a settlement proposal filed Friday.
The Chicago Housing Authority and lawyers representing CHA residents have asked U.S. District Judge Marvin Aspen to approve the agreement creating a road map for the CHA to complete its obligations under the so-called Gautreaux litigation.
The class-action lawsuit was originally filed more than 50 years ago amid the tumult of the civil rights movement.
