Monday, Dec 24 'Twas the night before Bearsmas, when all through Levi's Stadium, not a 49er was stirring, not even a mouse (because Roquan Smith sacked him, see?). Little too much egg nog for your Inside Slant writer this morning ... But back to Week 16, where the Bears eeked out their 11th win of the season, a 14-9 defeat of the 49ers. What does it mean for their postseason spot? The Bears clinched the No. 3 seed and still have a (very outside) shot at the No. 2 and that bye. And just to add to the Week 17 drama next Sunday, the Bears game vs. the Vikings in Minnesota was flexed to a 3:25 p.m. start — the same time as the Rams' date with the 49ers. So here's hoping there's an extra TV under your Christmas tree. Speaking of, here's our early present to you: Brad Biggs' 10 thoughts (big red bow not included). | | |
Danny Trevathan said the defense, after their NFL-best 27th INT, wanted to do the dance from "A Charlie Brown Christmas." But alas, too much time studying plays, not enough time studying moves. Bah humbug.

Nothing fancy. Nothing extraordinary. Just some dink-and-dunk action from Mitch Trubisky: "Stay within the offense." And stay away from his head — or Anthony Miller & Co. will knock on your door (and not for caroling).

Kyle Long! We know him! "There's no timeline," but the Bears have designated the guard (and his ankle) to return from IR. "You see him out here at practice, you forget how huge he is," Matt Nagy said.

Bears 14, Robbie Gould 9 (yes, he scored all the points for the 49ers on Sunday). Colleen Kane has our Week 16 recap from San Francisco, and John J. Kim and Chris Sweda have the photos. Ho ho ho.

The best 3-word review from the Bears' win this week? "Ugly Christmas Sweater." Put that guy on the nice list. Think you've got a better one? Get in your sleigh and chat with the other elves in our Bears Fans group.
