Thursday, Dec 14 Yesterday, we implored the Cubs or White Sox to turn up the heat at the winter meetings. Enter: Rick Hahn, clearly an avid Inside Slant reader. The White Sox made an "impressive offer" for Orioles All-Star third baseman Manny Machado, which seems a little confusing since the team has an eye to the future. "The goal remains putting us in the best position for the long term," Hahn said today, adding "We may take some calculated risks along the way." Even if the deal doesn't come to fruition, we certainly appreciate the distraction. Because, while necessary, the boring Cubs just keep adding arms to their staff. Today: A 2-year deal for reliever Steve Cishek. Theo Epstein said he didn't think the Cubs would do anything else, but added "things change quickly with one phone call." Do it. Do it. Do it. |
