Oh hi there, playoffs

Monday, Dec 17

Akiem Hicks, the (newsletter) floor is yours: "Green Bay is not our friend. We have nothing in common. And we want to beat them as many times as we can. I loved this." What's not to love? The Bears' 24-17 win at Soldier Field on Sunday over the Packers won them the NFC North and completed a remarkable worst-to-first turnaround. And, with a 10-4 record, it made Matt Nagy the team's winningest 1st-year head coach since George Halas (hey, he sounds familiar … ) went 10-1-2 in 1920. And, the Bears can do no worse that a No. 3 seed in the NFC playoffs, guaranteeing them a home game in the wild-card round. "We've got a bunch of fighters on this team, man," Bobby Massie said. "We've got a bunch of hungry (word redacted because it's very early in the morning) who are out to win. It's a beautiful thing to see, man." It's also a beautiful thing to read: Here are Brad Biggs' 10 thoughts on the very big, important win. Happy Monday!

On defense

Khalil Mack, you are ridiculous. Because you, Khalil Mack, sacked Aaron Rodgers with your back. "By any means necessary," he said of his 12 ½ sack this season. "My best-case scenario? It hasn't happened yet." Now that's scary.

On offense

Mitch Trubisky lit it up on the field — that tie-breaking, 13-yard dart to Trey Burton was sweet — and off the field — did you see his Christmas sweater? Also pulling double duty: Charles Leno, who proposed (!) postgame.

Injury report

Eddie Jackson, who has 6 INTs this season including 1 in the end zone Sunday, sprained his ankle in the win His status is uncertain, but with the Bears clinching, the safety could rest comfortably until January.

Once more, with feeling

Hey, remember when the Bears sacked Packers QB Aaron Rodgers 5 times en route to a win? That was cool. Take a walk down memory lane with Colleen Kane's Week 15 recap and these Week 15 photos.

It's all about you
