Inside Slant

This place has everything!

Thursday, Dec 20

A light machine, blasting beats and dozens of dancing players ranging from 165 to 330 pounds. "You guys are missing out," said Mitch Trubisky of this magical place. The name? Club Dub. The bouncer? Bears coach Matt Nagy. The cover charge? Free, but only for the NFC North champs. "It's great to laugh at your teammates that can't dance," Tarik Cohen said. "It brings everyone closer." Nagy borrowed this wacky locker-room idea from that wacky Joe Maddon — and it's working for his 10-4 Bears team, who are chasing the Rams for a 1st-round playoff bye. "I think it was the right recipe for us," Danny Trevathan said. Back at Halas Hall, Eddie Jackson (sprained ankle) and Aaron Lynch (sprained elbow) missed practice, while the baby-faced Trubisky talked about his beard pact. Yes, a beard pact.

He's still a fan

"To see them back in the playoffs is going to be pretty exciting. I'm just excited for them and watch the (Bears) hopefully win a Super Bowl." That's Robbie Gould on the Bears, who play his 49ers Sunday. A bit awkward, no?

Update your passwords, folks

So … about those leaked emails from the Ricketts family. They weren't quite as juicy as Paul Sullivan had hoped, but still an entertaining read. Not mentioned: A possible TV pairing with Sinclair Broadcast group.

More Bulls losses

1. 96-93 to the Nets at the United Center. 2. Zach LaVine for 2-4 weeks with "an unusual sprain." 3. $40K from the wallets of Robin Lopez ($25K) and Kris Dunn ($15K) after their Thunder scuffle. Only the Bulls!

Early arrivals

Notre Dame, Northwestern, Illinois and Northern Illinois did a bunch of heavy lifting on early signing day — but there's still more to do. Like, NU has no RBs. And the Illini are targeting a four-star LB. Back to it!

A bad stretch

Marcus Kruger is the 3rd Hawks player in 10 days to go on IR with a concussion. Artem Anisimov missed 4 games earlier this month, while Corey Crawford remains out with Collin Delia starting for him in goal.
